We're really getting into our online stride now and with each meeting we're seeing members get more and more used to presenting in a digital environment. Gertrude was our Toastmaster for the evening and set the theme of 'Empowerment.' She did a superb job safely guiding us through the meeting. It was brilliant to have a brand new member with us too. Luqman joined the club just a few days ago but was ready to go with his first role - making fantastic work of the timekeeping job. Our speakers were Aminat, Norma, Kanak and Estela. All four speeches were full of passion, energy, humour and poignancy - you can watch each one below. After the evaluations, we had a fun table topic session, led by Rob, with some thrilling, 'on the spot' evaluations from members and guests. Kanak, our guest from Calgary in Canada scooped Best Speaker award, Aseem took Best Evaluator for his in-depth analysis of Estela's speech and Sandra won the Best Table Topics award for a great twist on an inspirational figure in her life. The most exciting Zoom poll of the day, gave everybody the chance to vote on where they thought our guests Pia and Don had disappeared to during the second half of the meeting. Investigations are ongoing! The night ended with an outstanding general evaluation from Club President at Purley Speakers, Gayle Copper. Gayle had some insightful commendations and recommendations for all the role players and it was a pleasure to have her visit us for the evening. As it's a fifth Thursday next week, we'll be meeting again. Enjoy the meeting in full below, or skip to your favourite parts.
