written by daniel magillClub President Croydon Communicators What an amazing online meeting we had at Croydon Communicators on Thursday evening. Gina led us smoothly and expertly as Toastmaster for the evening and we had some outstanding speeches to savour. Florence, Aminat, Stephen and Aseem kept us entertained with their well-prepared, highly-engaging speeches. For Stephen it was his icebreaker speech - and what a job he did of it. Cool, calm and collected. Stephen showed us how an icebreaker can be delivered online. With 3 more icebreakers to come at our next meeting, there was plenty to learn for our other newer members. Aminat and Florence both used bags of humour in their speeches. It' s great to see Florence fully committed to her journey to become an Advanced Communicator before the end of June, and Aminat has clearly learnt a lot from her charming Club President about the powers of saying yes! Aseem then gave us his 10th and final speech on his journey toward becoming a Competent Communicator. There's not a lot more to say about this magnificent speech, other than to advise you to watch it below. You'll find it at 39:25 in the video below. Entertaining, inspirational, humorous, intriguing, motivational, heart-warming - it had everything. Matt ran a fun Table Topics session and it was great to see everybody getting involved, both with the topics themselves and the instant on-the-spot evaluations.
There were plenty of people to congratulate at the end... Welcome to our newest member of the club, Loreen. We're looking forward to your Icebreaker speech next Wednesday. Stephen, congratulations on getting started with your journey and delivering a superb Icebreaker speech. Florence - hugely well done for completing your Competent Leader journey. And of course, Aseem - you finally made it! Congratulations on becoming a Competent Communicator. Because we can, we've added in a bonus meeting - next Wednesday May 20 at 7pm. During which we'll be treated to Icebreaker speeches from Precious, Luqman and Loreen. Please come along, take a role and support our new speakers. It'll be another fabulous night. See you all then.
