The jobs market is a highly competitive dog-eat-dog environment, that is all-too-often a minefield. Despite your best efforts to net an even halfway decent job, knockback after knockback is simply soul-destroying. Those who succeed at bagging the job they go after tend to stand out from the pack in the way they look, the way they present, how they respond to questions at interview; and in their ability to speak off the cuff and organise their thoughts and feelings about things clearly.
At Croydon Communicators we get a steady stream of visitors each interested in developing their communication skills for an array of different reasons. Some are on the job trail and feel they need to find their unique selling point. What you will find on joining Croydon Communicators is a route up a mountain with experienced 'sherpas' to mentor you along. There are ten camps up this mountain, which represent ten speech projects. The first stop is the 4-6-minute 'Ice Breaker Speech' and the last stop is the 8-10 minute (no notes) speech to 'Inspire Your Audience', which should showcase the skills you've gained incrementally at each camp. What's exciting about each camp en route to the summit is that it features a well-lit stage with a warm and friendly audience willing you on to present what you've been working on and give you feedback that is designed to motivate you to press on towards the summit, where you will achieve the Competent Communicator Award that can accompany your CV and application form for any job you apply for. Having the Competent Communicator Award for Toastmasters International is quite the USP!
So, if you are on the job trail and trying to stand out from your competitors, why not try Toastmasters? You won't regret it. We are always delighted to welcome new people along to Croydon Communicators and to cheer you along on your journey to the summit.
